Real-time

Both play at once.

Put a card on a center pile if it's exactly one higher or lower. Suits don't matter. Whoever is faster empties their hand first.

The slap

Wait for it… SLAP!

When the round ends, the signal drops at a random moment. Hit the smaller pile first and your opponent gets stuck with the big one.
